Medical and Science Library of Gerald I. Sugarman, MD

PBA Galleries is privileged to present the fine collection of Medical and Scientific works gathered by Dr. Gerald I. Sugarman over more than thirty years. Ranging from seminal anatomical works to early midwifery manuals, genetic mutation, birth defects and much more, the library presents nearly a half-century of medical progress and innovation. In addition, Dr. Sugarman collected an astounding array of medical ephemera, surgical instruments, medicine kits, supplies, apothecary jars, and other items.

Dr. Sugarman graduated from George Washington University with a Master's degree in Biochemistry, and received his medical degree from Chicago Medical School. He interned at the Los Angeles County Hospital and completed his residency training in Pediatrics and Pediatric neurology at the Children's Hospital in Los Angeles.

Dr. Sugarman has published over 50 medical articles and 4 books. Four rare syndromes have been named after him. He continues his medical endeavors by writing, reading, attending meetings, evaluating patients and reviewing medical-legal records.

In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Sugarman has been an expert in medical-legal cases for over 25 years. Dr. Sugarman graduated law school from Glendale University School of Law and became licensed by the California State Bar in 1978, when he began his practice. He confines his law practice to serious injuries involving newborns, children and adults. He is a member of the American Trial Lawyers for Justice and a member of the Birth Trauma Litigation Group
