Using the PBA Galleries Real Time Bidder

*If you have logged on to the Real Time Bidder prior to the 1 PM PST start time, be sure to refresh your browser shortly before 1, to ensure that your connection has not dropped.

If a live auction is in progress, you should see the current lot presented in the Real Time Bidder window. Check the 'auction status' window to determine if bidding has begun on the item. A status of 'live' indicates that bidding is currently possible for this item.

The current sale amount for the item can be viewed in the 'Current Price' window.

The amount currently being sought by the auctioneer is listed in the 'Asking Bid' window.

These windows are for displaying dollar values only - you do not enter information into them.

Placing bids

• To place a bid on the current item, simply click the 'Place Bid' button. This will submit a bid at the amount shown in the 'Asking Bid' window. You do not need to enter any amount to place a bid - the system will only accept the current bid amount, so this is not necessary.
• Submitting a bid does not ensure that it will be accepted by the auctioneer. It is similar to raising your hand on the auction floor - someone else may beat you to the bid, and the auctioneer will award the bid to that person. The status of your bid will be displayed in the 'Bid Status' box, just below the Place Bid button.
• Once you've submitted your bid, the 'Place Bid' button will be inactive, until someone else places a bid higher than you.
• Bids can only be placed according to the bidding increments, and cannot be placed above the current Asking Bid.

Pre-Sale Bidding

• Bids may be placed on lots ahead of time by scrolling through the catalogue below the Real Time Bidder and clicking 'Place Pre-Sale Bid' on the lot in question. This will result in the computer bidding for you during that lot's auction. The computer will not automatically bid your high amount, but will increase its bid as necessary, until either you have won the lot or your maximum amount has been surpassed.
• After clicking 'Place Pre-Sale Bid', a detail window will pop up, with an area for entering your bid. Enter the maximum amount you wish to bid and press 'Place Bid'.
• Pre-sale bids may not be placed on items that are less than five lots away from the the lot currently being auctioned.

You can view the lots you have won during the sale in the 'Items you have won' area.

At the end of the auction, the Real Time Bidder will close, and customers with winning bids should contact PBA Galleries for information on their items.
