2 vols in 1. [14], ccc; [6], clxxviii leaves. (8vo) 8x5¼, modern ¾ morocco & marbled boards, spine lettered in gilt, raised bands, marbled endpapers.
Works of perhaps the greatest of the Latin fathers, whose autobiographical "Confessions" have enthralled and enlightened Christian and non-Christian alike since the 5th century A.D. Superbly printed, with the device of Jean Petit on each title-page. Formerly in the Fuller Collection of the Spokane Public Library, with perforated stamp to a2.
Condition:
Title-page of Vol. I trimmed at top and bottom, with paper extension applied, a few wormholes; occasional light foxing, titkle-page of Vol. II a bit toned, still near fine.
