Description:
[424, 16, 256] pp. pi8 a-i8 k-l6 m8 n4 o-z8 [et]8 [cum]8 [tur]6 [sum]6; []8; aa-qq8. Edited by Wendelin Steinbach, according to Goff. Printed in 2 columns, with many rubricated initials, paragraph marks and underlines in red. (8vo) 8¼x6, period wooden boards, leather spine.
The first and third parts of a four-part collection of Biel's sermons, often seen separately; the other parts were Sermones de festivitatibus virginis Mariae and Sermones de tempore. The "Annotatio tituloru[m] de sanctis ..." of Biel's Sermones de sanctis also appears at the end of the copy of Sermones Gabrielis de Festiuitatibus Christi in the Library of Congress, which does not contain the other three works. The contemporary covers on this copy apparently supplied from another work at some time, with another spine title faintly visible in blind at the spine foot, upside down, the signatures resewn. The title has been inked on the fore-edges, in an early hand. Goff B-662
Condition:
Some wear and worming to the boards, spine treated, lacking the clasps; occasional mostly marginal worming, a few minor marginal stains, still a very nice copy of this incunable.
