Fine copy of the deluxe edition, with 30 hand-tied flies. Also the first edition of the first American trout stream entomology. Jennings (1892-1962) was an extremely influential fly-tyer; his flies and fly-tying theories are still frequently cited today. "This book contains an accurate scientific identification of the most important flies found in the United States, written in a manner which the angler can understand and enjoy. The proper artificial for each is described. Nymphs and their imitations are fully covered, as are minnows and their accompanying bucktails and streamers. The materials for fly dressing and their use in tying flies are thoroughly covered" (Derrydale Bibliography). This copy with bookplate of Robert Patterson on front free endpaper. Bruns J16; Litchfield 91.
Condition:
Mild wear to slipcase corners; a few minor dings to spines; overall fine, unfaded, crisp and partially unopened.
