| Edwin Blair’s copy, inscribed and signed by Charles Bukowski with an original race horse drawing with jockey, all in silver-metallic ink plus a red number “6” on the horse, on the blue-colored leaf facing colophon: “For Ed Blair – Of the ‘Dapper Delegate’ days and beercan nights, watching Jon and Lou put the book together (here it is!), and good to have met you, quiet one. Sure, Charles Bukowski. 5-2-65 Los Angeles.” Includes a typed note by Ed Blair laid-in, describing the background behind the inscription: “Met Bukowski during his visit to New Orleans in Spring of 1965. About the time Hank was here the Louisiana Derby took place and Dapper Delegate a horse owned by the Brown family who owned the Fair Grounds track here won this big stake race leading up to Derby…At the meeting of Corrington and Bukowski I was there but felt unable to keep up with the academic chit chat that ensued…”. Also, a color photo of the inscription taken by Blair, laid in. Gypsy Lou series #2. Dorbin A6; Krumhansl 15. |
