Description:
[24] pp. 5¾x3½, saddle stitched wrappers. First Edition.
Rare Angling ephemeral item published in a small town in Maine. No copies of this 1904 edition located in auction records for at least the past twenty-five years. A 1908 edition with a slightly different subtitle (of which some will incorrectly list as the first edition) and a 1939 Grabhorn Press limited issue (both in wrappers) were also published and those too are considered scarce. "Ed Grant, evidently a guide of Beaver Pond, Maine, tells the stories, which were chronicled by Francis I. Maule. The first edition not seen, the second [is] very scarce" - See Bruns page 187 (between G 135 & 136). Appears to be lacking the covers with a small fragment still underneath the upper staple.
Condition:
Title page darkened and foxed, 1½" tear on both first and last pages (or covers), 1" darkening spot on p. [3], light soiling, faint stains on last text page, a corner crease; text of stories still clean; good or better in appearance as it is. Scarce.
