Description:
11x8½, decorative broadside printed on stiff purple paper with ochre pictorial stamping, lettered in black. Plus 22 other pictorial broadsides by various authors on various sized sheets, various paper (one being stamped on yellow napkin), mostly silkscreen. Loose (as issued) and laid inside original white pictorial cardboard folders (“from a pre-fabricated box top…notched folds”) with purple string (puzzle piece affixed at end) which ties to a front cover piece, front with yellow pictorial art image, rear with brown image, various shaped inside folds over pictorial black & white photographic inside covers (looks like alphabet soup with numbers). First Edition. “An unknown number of copies.”
Rare early Bukowski “A” item, with his early black ink autograph. Krumhansl states “with circa 19-20 broadsides printing the works of other writers,” but this copy here has 23 total (exact total is unknown at this time). And about the folders: “Interior with abstract design dropped out from black ground. A purple string tie with a glass faster was attached to the covers…”. No glass faster present with this copy, however, with puzzle piece, not mentioned in Krumhansl. No copies found in ABPC auction records. Krumhansl 37.
Condition:
Some wear to card folders (edge wear, faint stains); old creases and a few small dampstains to Bukowski broadside, occasional light wear to other broadsides; Bukowski broadside very good or better, some broadsides near fine to fine, portfolio very good.
