6 volumes. Each illustrated with color frontispiece and 3 other color plates, plus numerous black & white illustrations by Rowland Hilder and/or Norman Hepple. 8vo. Different colored cloth each, lettered in gilt, each in original acetate, together housed in the 2 original silver-coated slipcases with golden paper label. First American Edition, using the English sheets, of this collected edition.
With: Precious Bane, Gone to Earth, The Golden Arrow, The House in Dormer Forest, Seven for a Secret, The Spring of Joy (poems, prose pieces and an unfinished novel Armour Wherein He Trusted). Introductions by Stanley Baldwin (Prime Minister, John Buchan, G.K. Chesterton, Rev. Sheppard, Robert Lynd, Walter de la Mare and Martin Armstrong.
Condition:
Some rubbing and edge wear to slipcases; a few old tape repairs to acetate covers; spines faded, other light wear; still an attractive and very good set.
