| A unique and fascinating look at the personal expenditures of the great newspaperman, as charged through the accounts of the San Francisco Examiner over a period of 10 years. Includes copies of the original ledger pages, copies of the detailed typed supporting schedules, and copies of the correspondence relating to the assemblage of these records for Mr. A.W. Clark, General Auditor of the Hearst Corporation. Payments were made for a wide variety of expenses including club memberships, payments on behalf of Phoebe Apperson Hearst, expenses for San Simeon, typewriter rentals, auto towing, purchase of property in Sausalito, theater charges for Mrs. Hearst, and many other interesting expenditures. |
