Description:
High School Composition Book, 10x8, with reports of the proceedings of meetings neatly entered in ink on 24 ruled pages, all entries well scripted and easily read.
The conference organizing committee consisted of delegates from various workers’ groups in Baltimore including the Karl Marx Club, I. W. W., Ladies Garment Workers, Socialist Labor Party, etc. The delegates gathered for the purpose of planning a picnic on May Day and a march and mass meeting the preceding evening. with the profits from the picnic to be donated to the Workers Defense Union in New York City. The most divisive issue was whether to hold the march and mass meeting without obtaining the requisite permit from city authorities, a slight majority being opposed to doing so. They also decided that the Baltimore R. U. of I. W. W. would be permitted at the picnic to raffle a pillowcase made by I. W. W. prisoners at Deer Lodge Penitentiary and send the proceeds to I. W. W. Relief Fund. On the really big issue in contention the results were as follows: “that we sell no whisky at Park. Carried. * That we reconsider. Carried. * That we order 2 gals. Whisky. Carried. 14-10. * That we rescind action on whisky. Carried. 13-7.”
