Description:
Printed broadside with autograph letter. 11x8.
Mrs. Sarah Wright McDannold, who was the driving force behind the Woman's Klondike Expedition Syndicate (the object of which was to prospect and locate claims on the Klondike and other tributaries of the Yukon River, writes to a Mrs. Ewing in an attempt to recruit her on the expedition: "...from your letter and references [we] would be glad to have yourself and sons join our expedition - if physically sound and strong. Already we are sure of twenty - and expect to close our list at sixty. The number entitles us to a special train of three sleepers and two baggage cars. There will be a number of men in our party... Mr. Buchard's expedition, same plan & prospectives as ours -s starts on same date & will precede our expedition on the overland route..." An interesting piece of ephemera relating to a little-remembered aspect of the Alaska Gold Rush.
