[8], xxxix, [1] blank, 405, [1] pp. Four hand-colored stipple-engraved plates. (4to) 10½x8¼, period mottled calf, rebacked with original spine laid down. Second Edition.
Joseph Adams (1756-1818) was appointed as head of the Small-Pox Hospital in 1806 having practiced for eight years as an apothecary in Madeira. First published in 1795, the second edition includes 4 plates and additional commentaries on John Hunter.
Condition:
Edges worn, hinges cracked; some staining at outer edge of plates; text clean; very good.
