"Mrs. [Catherine D.] Wentworth was one of the few distinguished American collectors of French silver, and it was the promise of the loan of several hundred fine pieces from her collection that inspired the 1938 [Metropolitan Museum of Art] exhibition." -Author's preface.
Condition:
Moderate wear to edges of slipcase, including cracked spine edge, some chipping; volume spines sunned and rubbed a bit; very good.
