Signed and inscribed by the Committee's Chairman, Charles E. Wilson, on the front endpaper, "To Arthur Rosenberg with Cordial Regards, C. E. Wilson". Affixed to the front pastedown is a Typed Letter, signed by Wilson, "Chas," 1 page, 10½x7¼", New York, November 14, 1947, to Arthur Rosenberg advising him a book would be forthcoming and commenting on the committee's work. An important and pro-active measure taken by the Truman administration to investigate racism and civil rights in the late 1940s. Wilson's typed letter to Rosenberg reads, in part: "On returning from the Pacific Coast this morning, I find your good letter of October 30th about the report of the President's Committee on Civil Rights. Naturally, we all have reservations, but I certainly had a great committee to work with and believe it did a job that will stand the test of time..."
