Coburn's first book, followed by a similar volume on New York the next year. Coburn made all of the gravures himself from the etching of the plates through the pulling of proofs, then supervising the entire print run. "A member of the Photo-Secession...and friend of the Cubists, Vorticists, and Imagists, Coburn had one foot in the nineteenth century and one foot in the twentieth.
