The first American book on ophthalmology by the first American who restricted his practice solely to diseases of the eye. Frick had studied under George Beer in Vienna. The work consists of four parts: “Ophthalmia” (five chapters); “Diseases which attack the individual textures of the eye” (six chapters); “Diseases of the appendages” (two chapters); and “Diseases which attack the eyeball” (one chapter).
