Complete publication of this anti-Catholic paper edited by the political writer Henry Care, with some additional material as well. Care began the periodical in reaction to the alleged Popish Plot, and the publication caused his prosecution as author of the journal. and more particularly for a clause against the lord chief justice, William Scroggs, who himself sat as judge at the trial. The jury found him guilty, and Care was prohibited from printing his journal. The tables were turned  charges brought against Scroggs, who was removed from the bench some months later, and Care continued to publish. At the beginning of each of the second bound volume are nine pages in contemporary ink manuscript of "Some briefe notes taken out of a Book called the history of Popish Sham Plots." Volume 5 lacks its title and preliminaries.
