Printed title-page, engraved title-page, 24 engraved plates with captioned interleaves (the interleaves follow the plates, and some pertain to multiple plates), 8 engraved plans. (oblong folio) 10½x14½, cloth.

Very rare work revealing one of the largest rock-hewn monastic-temple complexes in the entire world, the famed caves of Ellora. This work first appeared in 1803 as Part 5 of the Daniells' Oriental Scenery. OCLC/Worldcat lists only 6 copies of the present edition.

Condition:

Covers worn, front detached, broken, lacking portion; title-page detached, large chips around margins; dampstains to contents, more serious to the earlier plates; a very rare work worthy of restoration, sold as is.
