Description:
21 lines, in ink, on vellum, with paper seal affixed. 10x12½. Joseph Bloomfield (1753-1823) 4th governor of New Jersey, appoints Robert Livingston Armstrong as attorney, proctor and solicitor at law. Bloomfield served in the Continental Army, rising to major and was appointed judge advocate of the northern army. He was governor of New Jersey from 1801-1802, and 1803-1812. Provenance: A private California collection.
