Vintage hand-colored photograph, approximately 12x9½". In a period frame. Signed in the negative at lower left. Asahel Curtis was among the most prominent Seattle photographers of the early twentieth century, as well as a noted outdoorsman and regional booster. In 1911, Asahel established his own studio in Seattle and employed a team of developers and colorists, including his sister Eva. He was hired by a number of local companies, organizations, and wealthy individuals to take portraits and promotional photos. Asahel became more widely known for his images of the Washington landscape that were published nationwide. He was the brother of photographer Edward S. Curtis.
