Richard Throssel (1882-1933), a Creek Indian adopted into the Crow tribe among whom he lived and worked, photographed the Crow extensively for both artistic and official purposes. From 1909 through 1911, Throssel held the position of a photographer-at-large for the Indian Service depicting everyday life on the Crow Reservation, and documenting the Crow Indian culture and adaptation.
