Documents relating to the questioning of witnesses in the case of William Gibbs and others V. John Charles Frémont. Comprising instructions for deposing witnesses and lists of questions to be asked on examination and cross-examination on behalf of the plaintiffs. In 1852 Frémont was arrested while in England at the insistence of creditors of the United States who attempted to hold him personally responsible for the debts of the U.S. Government. Among the witnesses for the defense were James Buchanan.
