A copy uniquely signed by Neal Cassady's wife and three children, the recipients of the letters he wrote from San Quentin prison, which are published here. Inscribed and signed by his family on the half title: "Rick. Good to see you at the Beat Museum, 1/06. Keep the Beat! All best, John Allen Cassady," "To Rick- Best Wishes - Cathy Cassady," "Hey Rick - You flatterer! Best Carolyn Cassady 1/13/06 SF," and "It's too much! 1-13-06 Jami Cassady." Neal Cassady was sentenced to 5 years for selling marijuana to an undercover police officer, and while isolated in prison he wrote letters to his family and godfather. They provide an intimate look into Cassady's psyche in a challenging time, and also add depth to the man, the myth, the legend. Carolyn Cassady sadly passed away on Friday, September 20, 2013, in England where she had been a long-time resident.
