[lii], 584, [8] pp. 6¼x3¼, period calf, morocco spine label, lettered in gilt. Seventh Edition (so stated).

La Bruyère's work, first published in Paris in 1688, was enlarged and reissued until 1694. This copy was printed the same year that La Bruyère was elected to the French Academy.

Condition:

Covers rubbed and worn; top margin trimmed closely, especially at rear, but all text legible; overall very good.
