Description:
Manuscript Document Signed as Pope, both sides of a single sheet, 15½x10¼. In Latin, not translated. Became Pope in 1775. Pius VI released American clergy from jurisdiction of vicar apostolic of England (after 1781) and established the See of Baltimore in 1789. He was deprived of parts of the papal dominions by the French in the 1790s and was carried as a prisoner to Valence, France, where he died.
