Description:

49 are signed in pencil by Eichenberg; 1 is an unsigned Artist's Proof. Slightly different sizes, mostly 12x8," some a bit smaller. Housed together inside original portfolio made of card-stock pasteboard, cover hand-written in black ink by the artist: "The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky/ Fifty Lithographs by Fritz Eichenberg pulled from the litho stone by George C. Miller for Ann and Joseph Blumenthal, A.D. 1947/49."

These illustrations were used in the Limited Editions Club version of this classic literature title, published in 1949.

Condition:

Some slight marginal darkening; bottom half of portfolio spine separated, hinges splitting; lithographs are mostly fine.
