Each illustrated with woodblock drawings of various plants and calligraphic Chinese text. 11x7¾, original sewn yellow wrappers with paper cover labels, housed together in custom brown cloth folding case with bone clasps.

Two of the volumes are on poisons and poisonous plants, the other three designated as Sky, Earth and People, are a set of books about herbs to create a healthy stronger body. The page texts show the original Chinese version next to the larger Japanese translation, accompanying the illustrations of the plants, some in color. The books are wrapper bound side sewn in the Japanese manner.
