Provenance: Frances L. Whiting’s copy with her ownership signature on the front pastedown. Whiting was the first wife of Paul Schubert, who later remarried Ann Cuthrell Schubert (the daughter of noted author Faith Baldwin). Whiting was also the Managing editor for Cosmopolitan Magazine in the 1930’s and helped young authors, of which her name is often mentioned on dedication pages of their books.
