2 vols. viii, 568; vi, 576 pp. With 49 steel-engraved plates, incl. frontispieces & added pictorial title-pages, with tissue guards; numerous wood engravings, some full page. 12½x9½, ¾ dark brown morocco & cloth, spine lettered in gilt, raised bands, all edges gilt. First Edition.

Noteworthy for the numerous fine steel-engraved plates; the artists represented include Thomas Moran, Harry Fenn, James D. Smillie, J.D. Woodward, Granville Perkins and others.

Condition:

Joints and edges rubbed, some scuffing to cloth, front joint on Vol. 2 splitting, hinges repaired; engraved title page and 2 preliminary leaves detached in Vol. 2; plates clean and with only occasional foxing; overall very good.
