18 lines (including introductory matter), in ink, written by Miller on the back of the front free endpaper of the 1941 Modern Library edition of Five Great Modern Irish Plays. Cloth.

The poem, in French, as is most of the introductory matter, praises the French actress Lucienne Lemarchand, perhaps rising from her performance in a Paris production of John Ford's "'Tis a Pity She's a Whore" (performed as "Dommage qu'elle soit putain." The inscription, undated but written after Miller had returned to the U.S. from France, begins "Don't forget name of Lucienne Lemarchand à `L'Atelier' (Dubln's theatre). Place ____? Montinartre dans `Dommage quelle soit putain...' The poem beneath begins "Sa voix inoubliable/ sou cou de cyque/ ses chevaux d'or..." On the half-title of the book is Henry Miller's Pacific Palisades rubberstamp, above which he has writen "Please return to." The poem by Miller is undoubtedly unpublished.
