[8], 184 pp. A few wood-engraved headpieces. 8x5½, original saddle stitched and printed wrappers on tan-cream paper, stamped in red-orange, housed in a custom cloth clamshell box with gilt-lettered morocco spine label. First Edition. A monogrammed copy, inscribed and signed by the author on the title page with his initials, dated January 1919 in a bluish ink. Baxter (1866-1936) was one of the original members of St. Johnstone F.C. He wrote at length of such golf luminaries as Tom Morris, Rev. J.G. McPherson, Allan Robertson, Col. Boothby, and various clubmakers. He was the Magistrate of Perth from 1921 to 1936, and was particularly interested in the recreational facilities of the city and South Insch as a sports center; he spent much time researching local history and wrote a number of volumes on Perth. Covers loose and tape-repaired along spine and fore-edges, 2" piece missing to foot of spine, small chips and tears to edges, a few creases, soiling, faint writing marks to front cover, upper staple rusting; about very good of this scarce and fragile item, safely housed in a fine clamshell box.
