Inscribed presentation copy, signed by Hagen in the year of publication to a fellow great golfer on the front preliminary leaf: "To! My dear friend, Alf[red Padgham], Golfingly, Walter Hagen, 1956." "Alf" is actually Alfred Harry Padgham (1906-1966), the great British golfer, who, between 1933 and 1937, finished seventh or better at the British Open Championship; finally winning in 1936. Known for his effortless swing and being one of the longest hitters of his day, Padgham was also the PGA Captain in 1936; played three Ryder Cup matches from 1933-1937; and the winner of various other tournaments during the 1930's.
