Description:

93 pp. 6¾x5, original tan-orange cloth, lettered in black. First Edition.

Signed by the author and dated 1920 in black pastel on the front free endpaper. Extremely scarce, with only one other first edition located in auction records in the past twenty-five years, which was the Murdoch copy (not signed) selling for $3250 in 1998. Peter Lees was a golf course architect who designed numerous American, Scottish and British courses. Murdoch 442; (not in Donovan & Murdoch). Gift inscription dated Sept. 1961 "To Merle Hartman from Louise Pierce" in red ink on the front pastedown.

Condition:

Spine a bit darkened; light foxing, occasional finger-soiling; a near fine copy this small, unassuming yet exceedingly valuable and rare golf first edition.
