Tan-orange cloth, front cover stamped in blind, spine lettered in gilt, pictorial jacket. First British Edition.

Scarce early and classic title by this Nobel Prize-winning author. Buck was the first of only two American women ever to win that prize for literature. Early review clipping attached to the lower half of the front jacket panel, with blurbs from Punch magazine and Gerald Gould of the "Observer."

Condition:

Light edge wear and soiling overall, plus other slight wear to jacket; volume spine a bit faded; engraved bookplate of Dennis Wheatley; near fine in a very good or better jacket.
