Black’s colorful general atlas, published shortly after the Civil War, with double-page maps of: The World; Europe and various countries; Asia; India; Indian Archipelago; Africa; North America; United States and various individual states or regions; South America; Australia; Oceania and Pacific Ocean; and The Ancient World. The U.S. double-page map shows an extended “Dacotah” that incorporates modern-day Montana and North and South Dakota. Also, a strangely configured Idaho covering most of present-day Wyoming and a large Utah present as well. Publisher’s printed leaf, tipped-in, stating “Black’s General Atlas: Extra Edition” listing 20 maps of the U.S. and the Americas. Bookplate of William H. Hall (Free Library, Edgewood, Rhode Island) on the front pastedown and his embossed and perforated stamps on the title page. Hall’s perforated stamp on Southern England and Alabama maps; and his embossed stamp on Russia in Europe map.
