First state with two ad pages at end: p.[263] listing Baum books published under pseudonym "Laura Bancroft"; p.[264] listing the four Baum titles, The Land of Oz, Ozma of Oz, Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz, and John Dough and the Cherub; rear cover with silhouette portraits of Dorothy & Ozma; spine imprint printed in upper and lower case letters. This is one of the later copies of the first state, with damaged type on p.34, line 4 ("Toto on") and to the numeral 121 on p.121 (however, it does have the numeral and caption present beneath the illustration on p.129); it corresponds to Hanff & Greene's State C, with the terminal gathering printed in salmon stock rather than tan.
