One of the most beautiful American atlases of the first half of the 19th century, with clean, hand-colored engraved maps. Includes the double-page map of the United States, and 34 maps of American states and cities, which were originally published as Bradford's "Illustrated Atlas of the United States". This copy of the map of the separate Republic of Texas is superb, as noted in the text, "the boundaries of this infant commonwealth are as yet unsettled on the side of Mexico". Austin is shown and the various grants, etc., between the Red River and the Nueces. Texas is not shown independent from Mexico in the North American and U.S. maps, but it is named.
