Description:

3 folding lithographed maps in folder, 1 of them hand-colored. 9¼x5¾, original gilt-lettered cloth.

The three maps, which accompanied the first volume of Exploration of the Valley of the Amazon by William Herndon and Lardner Gibbon, are: Map of the Valley of the Amazon to Accompany Lt. Herndon's Report, by H.C. Elliot, hand-colored in outline (44.5x59.5 cm.); Plan del curso de los Rios Huallaga y Ucayali.... (39x26.6 cm.); and Map of the Rivers Huallaga, Ucayali and Amazon, from the Observations of Lt. Wm. H. Herndon... (64.5x147 cm.).

Condition:

Second map with some stains and creased; last with a few nicks at the folds; overall very good or better.
