Description:

With copper-engraved maps (2 are double-page) outlined with period hand-coloring. 11¼x9¼, original printed gray wrappers.

Double-page map of the United States shows most of the land west of the Rocky Mountains as "Unexplored Country" but does show fairly accurate land features, including Baja California and the Puget Sound area. Present day Montana, Wyoming, the Dakotas, etc. shown as the Missouri Terriotry. The boundries for Texas not marked but Texas is lettered in the lower portion next to Louisiana. Plus several key rivers, cities, Tribal names, etc. are mentioned.

Condition:

Insect wear and chipping chiefly along edges and spine, covers loose, soiling; dampstains throughout, toning; maps good to very good.
