Description:

[3], "68", [2] leaves (incomplete). One volvelle (only) on P3v for calculating daylight throughout the year (renewed). Numerous text illustrations, diagrams, charts, historiated initials. (4to) 8¼x5½, later sheep-backed boards. First Edition in Spanish.

Contains many fascinating astronomical and navigational illustrations, including those of globes. The 16th century was of course an extremely exciting time for cosmography and mapmaking.

Condition:

Lacking first 5 leaves besides A2 (title supplied in facsimile); lacking folding map; C4(?) and Q1 misbound as preliminaries; lacking approximately 4 other leaves. Dampstain, worming, and repairs (mostly marginal) with scattered loss to text. Sold with all faults.
