First edition of a very popular work, full of practical advice and prescriptions, many concerning what Cheyne himself suffered from, the depression and "hypochondria" resulting from the English climate, and obesity. Cheyne's writing is excellent and easily transcends his archaisms. Early ownership inscription to title, very occasional underlining.

Condition:

Rebacked with new endpapers, corners renewed; some browning, title bound close at inner margin with loss to outer frame, marginal tear to X4. Still, in very good condition.
