Signed by 23 World War II pilots, a number of them aces, on the endpapers, the back of the frontispiece, and on the illustrations within the book. They include Canadian aces Wing Commander Roderick I.A. Smith, Wing Commander James F. "Stocky" Edwards, RAF Ace Geoffrey Page and Brigadier General Victor N. Cabas (these three are together on the back of the front endpaper); also American ace Herschel Green (18 victories), Dick Rossi, Major General Ramsey D. Potts (B-24 Pilot in Polesti raid), Hub Zemke, Urban L. Drew, Hamilton McWhorter, Bob Wolff (100th BG pilot), Robert Rosenthal (100th BG pilot), Gale "Buck" Cleven (beneath a full-page photograph of him - he piloted a crippled B-17 back to base when his crew would have bailed out), Major General Jack Kidd (100th BG Pilot), Bob Wingfield (B-24 Pilot), G.P. Birdsong Jr. (91st BG pilot of Delta Rebel II) also signed on card and placed by his picture (p.176) is Actor/B-17 pilot Jimmy Stewart, and others. The book itself is the wartime story of the original officers, the combat crews and ground crews of the Britain-based 8th U.S. Army Air Force. Rubberstamps of Headquarters, 439th Troop Carrier Group, to the pastedowns; address label of Greg Dortch affixed to the title.
