1. One page, 8vo, on “Alex Haley – Chief Journalist – U.S. Coast Guard” blindstamped stationery, January 2, 1953. “…I sent Bernie Glasser four; he bought three. Called and said they liked them much, that you must certainly have briefed me well. I said, yes, and moreover you, of all the writers who’ve wanted to help me, had the particular knack of making me see and understand what they were talking about…” 2. One page, 8vo, April 27, 1980, on imprinted personal stationery. “…I’m not doing too well in the book department because of the distraction of television. But that’s a nice challenge, and I’m enjoying it. In a couple of weeks we should have CBS’ word re being picked up for regular series…” 3. One page, 4to, January 19, 1981. “…the situation you describe would pose no real problem at all. Thing is, the ultimate permission rights repose with the individual(s) whom a given human drama involved in the real life occurrence…” 4. One page, 4to, September 17, 1983. “…you wonder that somebody hasn’t latched onto me to run for President. That’s all I need! But I’ll tell you what: I have been approached from very, very high level to run for a US Senator post it was felt I could win; and right away I wrote to the very, very high-level offering personage my appreciative thanks, but no-thanks. I want no part of anything political. Ain’t my bag…” Accompaned by a photocopy of a fifth letter to Kittler and a magazine article on Haley.
