Items relating to the fateful journey of the great junk that was commissioned by Halliburton, and upon which he and his crew perished, gathered by Frances M. Wells, nee Stark, who was writing a book on Halliburton in 1963. Includes: Photograph of the ocean-going junk Sea Dragon sailing off the Chinese coast, inscribed in ink "Our compliments to Wilfred & Henriette. Dick Halliburton and `The Sea Dragon,' Hong Kong, Feb. 1939. 9¾x7¾. * Three photographs of the junk and its crew, two are 8x10, the other smaller. * Two typed letters, signed by Lowell Thomas, to Frances Stark [Wells], discussing Halliburton. One is two pages, the other a half-page. 1962-63. * Carbon of letter from Wells to Thomas. 1963. * Three handwritten letters from Ethel Flagg, whose son was one of the crew members who were lost at sea. Two are on single half-sheets, the other on 3 half-sheets, with envelopes. 1961-62. * Newspaper article from the Hongkong Sunday Herald, 15 January 1939, on the "forthcoming voyage of Richard Halliburton, well-known adventure writer, and his 10 American companions who propose to set off for the San Francisco World's Fair in a locally built Wenchow type junk by way of Keelung, MIdway Island and Honolulu..."
