Description:
18 pp. text + 350 halftone photographic plates (on both sides of the leaves). 9½x8½, white boards, jacket. First Edition. Photographic study of the framework houses of the Siegen industrial region. In the Siegen region, east of Cologne, one of the world's oldest iron-producing regions, the use of wood for building purposes was regulated, since charcoal made from wood was necessary in the smelting process. This restriction resulted in unusual designs for houses, captured by Bernd and Hilla Becher in their first complete photographic series.
