Index of names. 10¾x8½, bound in periood ¼ calf and marbled boards, spines lettered in gilt, marbled edges. "New Edition." A new edition, to which are prefixed: A biographical sketch of the author, Count Hamilton; and a translation of the Epistle of Count Grammont. The memoirs of Philbert, le Comte de Grammont (1621-1707), a gambler and rakehell, with much information on his doings and observations in the English court. One of the most popular books of its day, it was particularly beloved by Voltaire.

Covers with light scuffs, edges with minor abrasions, joints starting to split, corners a bit bumped, spines somewhat rubbed, spine ends slightly chipped (chiefly to head of Vol. II); hinges tender, scattered faint foxing; else a very good set.
