63 pp. Frontispiece portrait. 8x6, original printed wrappers. First Edition. Cummins crossed the plains in 1845. Mintz calls this "a somewhat impetuous but enthralling account of a the near-demise of Sarah when she was a teenage bride crossing the plains. She speaks of Fremont traveling with them for a short time, being saved from hostile Indians in Sioux country, and adds a bit about the Yellowstone area. Apparently she was in the same train as William Goulder, Samuel Hancock, and Solomon Tethrow. She wrote this when she was nearing ninety." Graff 949; Howes C952; Mintz 114; Smith 2151. A few slight indentations to front wrapper, a touch of wear to wrapper edges; else in fine condition, especially rare thus. With custom-made slipcase and chemise.
