Collection of proceedings by the Historical Society of Pennsylvania and other important Americana essays bound together. Contains: "The Journal of Isaac Senter...On a Secret Expedition Against Quebec, Under the Command of Col. Benedict Arnold, in September, 1775." Howes S291 and is listed as an "a" item (this being the same issue as listed in Howes). Also, "A Brief Description of New York, Formerly Called New Netherlands..." by Daniel Denton, which first appeared in 1670. Howes D259 lists a 1845 New York reprint edition, not a 1845 Pennsylvania reprint, which this is. According to Howes Denton's essay was the "first publication on this city to be printed in English." Also contains: "Col. McLane's Visit to Washington, 1814"; "Some Account of the British Army, Under the Command of General Howe, and of the Battle of Brandywine..." with a large folding map showing the battle plans hand-colored; "Papers Relating to the Battle of Brandywine"; and "Letters from Major John Clark, Jr., to Gen. Washington."

Joints splitting, front board starting to detach, light wear and rubbing to extremities, some abrasions to treated leather; foxing, folding map with tears and tape repairs to folds, else very good.
