Sumptuous set of Bourrienne's Napoleon made extremely significant by the addition of the many original autographed letters and documents, and also the many fine engravings gleaned from various sources. Among the many autographs are those of Napoleon (a document signed NP, as was his custom), the Empress Josephine, Joseph Bonaparte, Lucien Bonaperte, the Duke of Wellington, the Marquis de Lafayette, Talleyrand, Kleber, Massena, Joachim Murat, Marshal Ney, Horatio Nelson, many of his marshals, ladies of the court, etc. The many engraved portraits represent most of those whose signatures are present and many others, also scenes from Napoleon's victories and defeats. Some of the illustrations with which the book was issued are not present, having been substituted for by the superior added plates.
Condition:
Spines a bit darkened, a few scuffs to ribs and ends; still a fine, attractive set, of great significance due to the added autographs and illustrations.
